The Problem

Too many girls grow up thinking they are less than simply because of the color of their skin. Most girls who grow up in marginalized communities do not get the same resources as girls in more affluent communities.

The Solution

Our goal is to create long-lasting mentorship relationships, introduce girls to the idea of sisterhood, and present confidence-building workshops in order to break negative cycles allowing each girl to become positive change agents of their generation.

 About Us

B.E.S.T. You Programming was established in May of 2020 by Makailah Gause and Taylor Gwinn. The two young ladies understood the need for young students in the DC community to be surrounded by girls who are striving for greatness. Our goal is to break negative cycles and stereotypes that are placed on the youth.

Howard is one of two HBCUs in D.C., and as women who were once girls who needed positive role models, it is our passion to give back to the community that is nurturing us and contributing to our growth as women.

Our team of mentors all come from different walks of life and have their own stories to tell. Our mentors are highly trained and extremely passionate about serving and inspiring the youth.
